The abbey of Saint-Benoît-du-Lac, near Québec in Canada, was founded in 1912 by French monks from the abbey of Saint-Wandrille in Normandy.
Saint-Benoît-du-Lac has a community of about forty monks who live according to the monastic rule written by St. Benedict in the sixth century, hence their name “Benedictine”.
The monks seek God in the liturgical Office (Opus Dei), in prayer nourished by meditation of the Scriptures, in fraternal life and daily work under the direction of a superior named “Abbot/Father”.
